In windows7 cpu usage is not often visible in task bar processes

Q:In my windows7 cpu usage is not often visible in task bar processes.Why is this happening? Often when the cpu usage is high, for example, 24% the processes in the task bar do not show as much cpu usage.We can see the cpu usage of each process on the right hand side in the task bar.But i cannot find so much cpu usage there.I wonder if this is because of some virus.I have got an anti virus installed. Svchost.exe running at 50% cpu usage

Q:I had a friend over looking stuff up on the net on my system. One of the sites he was on was infected but my antivirus blocked it. When I restarted my computer it was running at a constant 50% cpu usage. I went to task manager and saw one of my svchost.exe running at 50%. I closed it out then my cpu restarted on its own.
