In windows7 cpu usage is not often visible in task bar processes

Q：In my windows7 cpu usage is not often visible in task bar processes.Why is this happening? Often when the cpu usage is high, for example, 24% the processes in the task bar do not show as much cpu usage.We can see the cpu usage of each process on the right hand side in the task bar.But i cannot find so much cpu usage there.I wonder if this is because of some virus.I have got an anti virus installed. Q:I had a friend over looking stuff up on the net on my system. One of the sites he was on was infected but my antivirus blocked it. When I restarted my computer it was running at a constant 50% cpu usage. I went to task manager and saw one of my svchost.exe running at 50%. I closed it out then my cpu restarted on its own.
