Q：My computer CPU usage percentage is getting higher than usual, how do i lower it?
I only have Zune software and Chrome running, the usuage is anywhere from 40-80 percent. its usually only 1-30. would it lower the CPU usage if i added 1 more GB of RAM? it only has 1 GB now.
A：RAM is not the answer to CPU usage. (Though adding another GB would probably speed up your response time since your system is probably memory starved. That’s when it has to use the much slower hard disk because it has run out of RAM to use). Going beyond 3GB worth is overkill for most users as the extra space will go unused.
Open up your Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Start Task Manager is one way) and check the process tab. Check the “Show tasks from all users” button, then select the cpu column to sort by cpu %. See who’s hogging up the cpu and that should give you a good clue on where to look next.
